Venus Stations Direct This Weekend
Have you been on a ~journey~ this summer? Welp—I think we all have. Venus Retrograde in Leo has definitely took the crown for most impactful astrological influence over the past few months. And as Venus prepares to station direct (finally) on September 4th, it’s the perfect time to reflect and begin to integrate all the important Venusian lessons that have been presented to us over these last 3 months (and will continue to marinate with these themes until the beginning of October).
Before we get into what a “Venusian Lesson” may look like, let’s review some important key points of this retrograde cycle:
June 19 | Venus enters retrograde shadow
July 23 | Venus stations retrograde at 28 degrees Leo
August 13 | Venus cazimi (retrograde halfway point) at 20 degrees Leo
September 4 | Venus stations direct at 12 degrees Leo
October 6 | Venus Clears Retrograde Shadow
October 9 | Venus Enters Virgo
Now, what really is a “Venusian Lesson” and why do these lessons particularly come forward during a Venus Retrograde cycle? Well, Venus is the planet signifying themes of love, partnership, pursuit of harmony, as well as materials, possessions, and money. While Venus is retrograde—our challenges and karma with these themes begin to reflect back to us more deeply. We begin to see things we have not seen before—about ourselves, the people we love, the people we can’t seem to harmonize with, and that one problem that we can’t seem to “fix” within our partner. Here are some Venusian karmic themes I’ve seen come up in my own life, clients’ lives, and the world around me this past summer:
Grief | Our relationship to grief, and how loss irrevocably puts us into contact with a new identity—whether we wanted to embrace that new identity or not.
Loans | How loaning resources to others changes our relationship to them, and how to give freely without resentment. Am I comfortable with never getting this thing back? Would I make the loan agreement if this person was never able to pay me back? Can I give freely without resentment? What are the underlying emotions beneath this loan? What resentments do I already carry towards this person that I am making this agreement with? Do I feel this person “owes me” and do they feel like I “owe them,” even if what is owed is not monetary?
Unrequited Love and the “chosen” wound | Deep down, we may all have a wound around not being chosen. When someone doesn’t “choose us,” does that make us want to fight for them even more? When we fight hard for someone who wants to walk away, is that because we truly desire to be in partnership with them? Or is it because our ego interprets their choice to walk away as not being chosen?
Underlying reasons behind the desire for a relationship | Of course it is good and natural for us to desire relationships—it is part of human survival. We couldn’t live without our relationships to each other. Plus we need relationships in order to evolve mentally and spiritually. When it specifically comes to seeking romantic partnership, I think we can often catch ourselves being operated by our shadow parts. There is a subconscious mirage that a romantic partnership can fulfill all the needs that weren’t fulfilled in childhood—unconditional love, physical touch, acceptance, being seen, being heard, etc. And the thing is: romantic relationships CAN VERY MUCH BE healing and fulfilling in these ways. But when we seek them whilst subconsciously coming from a place of lack within our own selves, we may manifest the very wound we are trying to heal.
Stronger loyalty to thy self | There is a decreased tendency to abandon the self in the pursuit of helping others heal. There is a lack of interest in disregarding one’s own boundaries and limits it order to be liked or loved.
Being Seen Without Shame | Weirdly enough, part of healing shame is simply LETTING OURSELVES do the things we WANT to do. We then find out that we are happier for it, by default. Our depression or anxiety lifts off a bit. Sure, did we need to fight through some nerves in order to show up to that improv class or start marketing our services online or release our new website? Of course. But as we move into the direction of what actually brings lightness, other people’s opinions of us don’t matter as much. We don’t feel embarrassed for being seen for who we truly are. Why would we? We’re content — and anyone who wants to shame someone for being content within themselves … that’s what’s actually embarrassing.
