Venus in Cancer 🌹
July 17th—August 11th
When Venus is in Cancer, I think of the line “in sickness & in health.” This line is perhaps outdated, as it is a snippet from a traditional marriage vow. However—Venus in Cancer knows no bounds when it comes to love. She is the chicken-soup deliverer when you have a cold. He sits in the waiting room & drives you home after your treatment. They know when you are hungry or tired before you even realize it for yourself.
Venus in Cancer is Venus in the Moon’s favorite sign. The Moon loves to be in Cancer because of the optimal amount of nurturing that can take place there. Now, think of Venus—the planet of love—transiting this nurturing and mothering energy. I’m reminded of the image of old-time battlefield nurses. She tends to your wounds and saves your life, both literally and spiritually. The fierce mother of love and compassion—that’s Venus in Cancer.
I’m reminded of our semi-recent Venus Retrograde in Capricorn (December 19, 2021, to January 29, 2022). Although the retrograde period lasted about 40 days, Venus was transiting Capricorn for over 4 months (November 5, 2021—March 6th, 2022). Why is this important to mention? Well, Cancer is the opposite sign to Capricorn. Is it possible that the upcoming Venus in Cancer transit will be coming through with some final healing salve for whatever was brought up for us during Venus in Capricorn’s overstayed visit?
Think back to what was going on in your life toward the end of 2021 & the beginning of 2022. How far have you come? What has changed or been realized? What did you think you wanted, but no longer do? Who has left or entered your life? What do you now know about your own wants and needs?
Venus in Cancer is helping us both nourish and empower ourselves, especially when it comes to the wounds that Venus in Capricorn may have rattled. Closure and understanding has arrived. Invite and embrace this energy fully!
