And as a little treat, enjoy this dorky picture of ME at the Trinity College Library in Dublin back in 2015. I was once obsessed with visiting as many bookstores and libraries as I could in the U.K.

History of the New Moon in Capricorn
You guys know how I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and think about astrological history, right? Well, this epiphany struck me at about 3am at some point this week: Holy shit… I think this is the final New Moon in Capricorn that is co-present with Pluto.
Upon flipping through my ephemeris the next morning, I realized I was right: The New Moon on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 (today) is the final Capricorn New Moon in the same sign as Pluto. At least, for the next hundred years or so.
Pluto’s been hanging out in Capricorn for a while—since 2008, to be exact. And we all know how that first year of Pluto in Capricorn went 🥴
I think it’s interesting that at the top of 2008, there was a New Moon in Capricorn right before Pluto officially moved into Capricorn. More specifically, Pluto was at 29° Sagittarius. Astrologically speaking, the 29th degree is a particularly significant point in the zodiac, because it is reminiscent of endings and the wrapping up of bigger karmic cycles. The fact that this was the first New Moon of 2008 speaks volumes to the tonal frequency of the 11 months to follow.
Now, check out today’s New Moon in Capricorn below. It is also co-present with a 29° Pluto, only this time, Pluto is in Capricorn.
Like the Cap New Moon at the top of 2008, this one in 2024 offers us a moment to both honor and shed a 16-year Plutonian cycle. You thought New Moons were for new beginnings, right? Well, for me, this New Moon is about what has to end in order for something else to begin.
The word transmute often comes to mind when I think of the meaning of Pluto. Consider what has changed in “form, nature, or substance” in your Capricorn house since 2008.
🌀Capricorn Rising (1st house): What has changed in form, nature or substance in the area of your identity, physical body, and your relationship to yourself?
🌀Aquarius Rising (12th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance now that you have become aware of a greater subconscious narrative weaving itself into your everyday life? What is the new narrative?
🌀Pisces Rising (11th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance when it comes to the groups and networks that you have spent much of your time with? What new connections are emerging?
🌀Aries Rising (10th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance when it comes to how seriously you take your dreams and your role in this world?
🌀Taurus Rising (9th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance in the realm of your belief system? What beliefs do you now recognize as inherited or conditioned? Which beliefs feel worthy of your next chapter?
🌀Gemini Rising (8th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance since you have let yourself grieve the loss of some important support systems in your life? Could grief be leading you towards a new chapter of support and co-regulation?
🌀Cancer Rising (7th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance in regards to the structures of your relationships? How has your choice of partners changed since grappling with your own attachment wounding?
🌀Leo Rising (6th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance since you made the commitment to structuring your daily life in a way that promotes your wellbeing and spiritual health?
🌀Virgo Rising (5th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance since you have committed further to seeing yourself as an artist and creative? How is life more enjoyable now that you have learned to keep pleasure in mind?
🌀Libra Rising (4th house): What has changed in form, nature or substance when it comes to family relationships and managing boundaries within your family’s system? How has your individuality been strengthened in the process, allowing you to seek less validation from the outside world?
🌀Scorpio Rising (3rd house): What has changed in form, nature or substance when it comes to how you narrate your own life? What new affirmations have emerged that deepen your intrinsic trust in your own self?
🌀Sagittarius Rising (2nd house): What has changed in form, nature or substance when it comes to how you value your unique talents and gifts? How have you brought your family’s money-trauma or poverty narratives to the surface, in order to examine and release them for yourself?
I hope this is a very transformative New Moon for you all, and I will write to you again at the New Moon in Aquarius (also co-present with Pluto—but—in Aquarius!!)
